I have finished my socks! These only took me half a year, between the tiny yarn that has a terrible habit of burring onto itself, and university taking my time.
And I finished a chapter of Posh Boy! Just waiting on my beta.
Honestly, it's some random acrylic yarns from a charity shop. About 90% of my yarns are bought second hand, which is great for my wallet but not great for identifying what I've got, unless I magically get yarns with the bands still on.
I went ahead and friended you on Rav! I totally agree about the patterns. I used to be active on the forums, but not so much anymore. Now I mostly use it as a pattern obtainer/tracker/yarn stash inventory. I find the private sections much more useful.
I hear ya - I remember what Uni yarn budgets were like! (...back in the dark ages)
I'm on the other side of it - more yarn than I have time, or comfortably functioning wrists, to knit up. My RL BFF's mother recently passed, and she was a yarn store owner; so I'm helping BFF figure out what to do with the yarn and being paid in... yep, yarn. I may never, ever knit it up, but it's up there in the closet where I keep all the yarn away from mice and moths. (Die, you little bastards!)
I recently adapted a knitting acronym for fic readers - FABLE (Fic Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy) - based on the SABLE (Stash...) and the FB group I'm part of found it hilarious. :D Perhaps I can knit while I read fic, and whittle away at both conditions!
I've got both FABLE and SABLE going on, mostly because I recently acquired several charity-shop jumpers that I'm going to unravel and use, and I found several fic recs on here! My "marked for later" list on Ao3 is giant. :D It's a good place to be.
