Ficlet Fridays (?)

Would anyone be interested in doing Ficlet Fridays as a weekly thing/Ao3 tag? Along the lines of Smut Sundays but without the requirement of smut. I think it might be a fun way to generate more content and community on here to start.

If you’d be interested can you leave a comment and “follow” this post for updates? We’ll discuss ways to tag/share fics, and what counts as a “ficlet” (in my mind anything from a single paragraph to ~10,000 is easily readable in one go, but I’m not sure that’s the fandom consensus).

Basics

Considering we've got some interest, I'm going to propose some basic rules, let me know if they work for you.

1) A 'ficlet' is going to be anything from 100-10,000 words, with a little wiggle room. I'm not going for picky, but also please don't tag novels.
2) There's no pressure to submit every Friday, but submitting around once a month is encouraged.
3) Fanartists can submit works! My thought behind this is that any art tagged "Ficlet Friday" is art that an artist is actively requesting ficlets for; the equivalent of "here, use my art as a prompt if you like". There's no obligation to use the art as the prompt for your fic, but I'd very much like to encourage artists to create with our tag too.
4) Please tag your art as "Ficlet Friday: Fandom" and then "Ficlet Friday: Ship" - two tags, both under the "Ficlet Friday" header, but allowing people to search by what they prefer.

Questions:
Does this still sound workable for everyone?
Would we like to put together a group/community for ficlets, or leave it to the tag?

I think it'd be great to have community, since AO3 tags are really "social" and tagging on DW refers only to a singe person's journal!

I was thinking the same thing--it could be a good place for people to post their links beyond just their own personal journals.

Join the community for now, even if you're unsure you'll be able to do it consistently! You're more than welcome, and if you only manage once every so often, that's still excellent and encourages other people to join as well. :)

I'm tentatively interested. Would we be allowed to pair these ficlets with, say, the prompts at genprompt_bingo?

I'd love that! I thought about putting up prompts but I'm too overwhelmed with life and I'd rather not make it too formal right now. :) The prompt bingo seems like an excellent resource for this!

I see no issue with cross-posting fics from the advent challenge. If it's your own work, go for it!

As for prompting, ask me again in a week and a half. :) I'm mid-exams so the brain is too fried to figure out a system for that, but if you DM me I'll reply once exams are over and we can hash out some ideas.
