I checked on some of my fics which are labelled 'authors chooses not to use archive warnings' and realised a number of them are Shakespeare, so dealing with canon character death, but this is only a side issue although technically 'major character death'. I tend to assume that anyone reading Shakespeare fics isn't going to be surprised at the outcome.
